Shaping a Care Association for Norfolk

It’s tough out there for all providers of social care.  We understand that and work is under way to create a Care Association for Norfolk to support you.

This exciting initiative is being tackled by an Executive Steering Group consisting of representatives of Norfolk Independent Care, Norfolk and Suffolk Care Support Ltd, the Association Representing Mental health Care, Norfolk County Council and Norfolk Older People’s Strategic Partnership.

There are already a number of Care Associations across England, offering a wide range of services to social care providers including:

  • negotiation of fees with the local authorities and health;
  • help with recruitment;
  • business, legal and HR advice;
  • DBS checks;
  • discounted bulk purchasing schemes; and
  • training.

We can learn a great deal from other associations but we want to ensure that a Norfolk Care Association delivers on the priorities identified by Norfolk employers for Norfolk residents.

We have commissioned a project team led by Dr Fiona Denny, in partnership with the University of East Anglia and the University of Suffolk, to consult with all social care providers.  The consultation will begin in the first week of October.

Business sustainability and the ability to offer quality and choice to Norfolk people is uppermost for all of us and we would urge you to get involved in the consultation; we can’t shape a Care Association without you.  Dates and venues will follow.  Please join us.
